Outgrow is built to feel private by default. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the Outgrow iPhone app and this website.

What stays on your device

Outgrow is designed so your private recovery history stays with you. The following information is intended to be stored locally on your device:

Journal entries
Mood check-ins
No-contact streak data
Unsent messages
Saved chat history inside the app

You can clear this data from inside the app if you want to reset or remove it.

What is sent off your device

Some limited information must be processed outside your device for the app to work:

Messages you send to the AI companion are sent to Outgrow's secure chat relay so a response can be generated.
Limited app context, such as your streak status or recent journal context, may be included with chat requests so replies can feel more relevant and less repetitive.
Subscription and purchase information is processed through Apple and RevenueCat.

How information is used

We use information only to operate the product experience, including to:

Generate AI responses in chat
Confirm subscription status and restore purchases
Keep your app features working as expected
Schedule local reminders when you turn notifications on

Notifications

If you enable reminders, Outgrow stores your notification preference on your device and schedules local notifications through Apple's notification system. You can disable notifications at any time in the app or in iPhone Settings.

Outgrow does not sell your private recovery data.

Information may be processed by service providers only when needed to run the app, such as:

Apple for App Store distribution, billing, and device services
RevenueCat for subscription status and entitlement management
Outgrow's chat relay and AI providers for generating chat responses

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the security and integrity of the service.

Data retention and deletion

Because most of your app data is stored on your device, retention is mostly controlled by you. You can remove journal entries, chat history, or all local data from inside the app.

AI requests may be temporarily processed by service providers to generate replies and operate the service. Their handling may be subject to their own policies and retention practices.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect information in transit and to limit unnecessary collection. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely risk-free, but Outgrow is intentionally designed to minimize central storage of your private recovery data.

Children's privacy

Outgrow is not intended for children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, the updated version will be posted here with a new effective date.
